3Com® OfficeConnect® VPN Firewall (CR870-95)

3Com OfficeConnect Internet Firewalls deliver affordable, business-class security for small business networks. The OfficeConnect Internet Firewall DMZ is capable of supporting up to 100 users and a protected “demilitarised zone” for e-commerce applications. These devices protect networks from hackers and other external threats, including from denial-of-service attacks known as “ping of death”, “SYN Flood”, “LAND attack”, “IP spoofing”, “teardrop”, and “bonk”, among others.

Advanced “stateful packet inspection” technology insures that only authorized traffic gains access to network servers, desktops and your other valuable equipment and data. Network Address Translation (NAT) allows an entire office to share a single IP address from an Internet Service Provider (ISP), potentially saving money and administrative hassles. Reports and alerts notify of unauthorized access attempts, with logs providing historical data on Internet usage. The firewalls can also be used to control Internet usage from the LAN, with an optional web site filtering add-on to limit access to objectionable web content. This works by screening all requested websites against an internal list of thousands of web sites deemed inappropriate for business use, a list kept current through weekly automatic downloads.
